USB not for networking?
I briefly examined the instructions for the ACQ001, and it appears that the USB ports are not intended for network communication??? Is the USB being used in a manner that violates USB standards, say by driving with higher voltages or currents? If not, then why not allow the ACQ001 to detect network devices plugged into the USB, such as 802.11 adapters? Or why not integrate an 802.11 wireless capability directly into the ACQ001 or the ACQ225? However, my feeling is that since large numbers of inexpensive consumer devices come with 802.11 by default (webcams, digicams, handphones, stereo receivers) that aquarium controllers should be doing this by default as well. The less hard wiring, the better. Even wiring and mounting an ACQ225 seems unnecessary when its functionality is rather trivial and can be duplicated by 5cm USB dongle.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: USB not for networking?
HiĀ jellykitty,
te USB pors on the Power Unit are simply a kind of useful connector, not an USB PC like port. The connections and voltages are completly different as the flux of the data.
The Controller is not like a PC, it recognizes the probes like plug and play, but all the hardware and the software is diferent.
In a future probably some of the things you are thinking at, will be available.
Bye
