Redox Weirdness?

Posted by gilpayson at April 06. 2008

Hello - my Redox probe and interface appears to work well - but it seems to be giving me false results.

My probe was giving me results at around 380-420 - then I put it in a redox calibration fluid (230mv), and the probe returned 190.  Without recalibrating, I put it back in place.  It now reports 250.

This type of behavior has happned before - has anyone had similar experiences?   By the way, I have two probes, and both are acting similarly.

Yes you need to clean and rince the probe after calibration. some of the calibration fluid residule will affect your reading.

I do not think that you understand the problem - if I leave the probe in the aquarium for 3 weeks - the reported value grows...  and even if I put it in tap water, dry it, put it into the aquarium, the value is completely different.

Hi gilpayson,

the Redox probe need a longer time to work well and to give a real value.

For calibration I usually leave the probe in the solution for a week before confirming on the controller the calibration, then I put the probe in sump and I don't mind for the first week values.....

Bye
