Timing & XY Programs

Posted by Arforrabbit at April 02. 2008

Hi

I'm trying to control items that activate at a given parameter:

Fans - On @ 79.5F

Calcium Reactor - On at pH8.35

Its easy enough to set the program to activate the socket on the powerbar but what frustrates me is when the controller senses the variable has been reached it turns the unit on BUT if the variable then immediately goes below the value it will turn off.

When my program activates for the fans (for example) they are constantly stopping and starting in the afternoon as the tank warms up bue to the lights being on and the natural warming of the day, this has led to frequent 'crashed' on my powerbar with Device Disconnected being displayed on my controller. With the calcium reactor you hear the solenoid clicking in and out as the pH increases during the day. Then the problems re-occur after 'lights out' and the temperature starts to drop and the pH decreases.

I can't be the only one trying to control these items so how do others get around the problem or is this a short fall in the programming. All I want is a way to make a socket stay on for a given period after a reference parameter is reached.

Hi. I don't think that is the case. I have the latest version downloaded and all I seem to have is an option to run the program between certain hours and for a maximum run time (in a 24 hour period?). If yuo look on the Aquatronica Forum on Reefcentral you will also see the same problem is being commented on. Its a MINIMUM time on I'm trying to achieve NOT a maximum time.
